Performance
and Purpose
The
Amazing CanDoos® is an action-packed performance designed especially
for children and parents. In an era of abundant media and live performances
for preschool and teenage children, the entertainment programming
designed for elementary age is many times neglected. Not so at a
Candoos® performance with the fast paced comedy, amazing feats and
motivational messages.
The
CanDoos® are a Super Hero pairing of a mother/daughter who, in concept,
battle the omnipresent Nasty Villains who tell people (kids) they can’t
do things. In the mythical place of Way Out West, the CanDoos® world,
the word Can”t” is never used. Therefore, all that can be
dreamed, put to hard work, and followed through is accomplished. The
CanDoos® exemplify what they say by sharing a variety of art forms with
the children-- such as musical instruments -- playing the saw, fiddle,
guitar, bass, bicycle pump, garden hose, and even a paper bag. They
also perform storytelling, eccentric dance, plate spinning and are nationally
acclaimed at the dying variety arts of trick and fancy roping, multiple
whip cracking, yodeling, and baton twirling. Combine all of this with
the magic of imagination, puppetry, lots of comedy and audience involvement
and it’s easy to see how children are mesmerized, motivated, and
excitedly saying, “I am going to be a CanDoo, too!”
The
relationship between the two CanDoos® characters is reversed. Ruby Red,
the daughter, is the leader trying to be in control of the show, and
the mother, Mucho, is the comedic, silly one who won’t quite
follow the directions.
Throughout
the performance, references are made as to everyone having special talents,
the importance of working hard, being able to laugh at oneself, not
saying, “Can’t” or allowing others to define what
you want to be. The relationship between the characters and how they
share and solve problems within the performance exemplifies individual
differences, yet similarities amongst us all.The Amazing CanDoos® performance
is Action, Talent, Message, and Fun. Children and adults go away uplifted
and ready to “Think It! Work It! Do It!”
